1. Turnip Rock

Lies on Lake Huron, which is one of America’s five great lakes. It comprises the easterly portion of Lake Michigan. But the real beauty lives inside the lake, near Port Austin, it is called Turnip Rock.

Eroded by watery waves over the course of thousands and thousands of years is this freestanding rock. The popular outdoor destination is well known by locals for its scenic views and crystal clear waters.

You can only reach this coveted land mass by boat, once there, climbing the rocky ledges reveal a stunning forest, nearly untouched by time or filthy human hands. The geological formation is a lesser-known American Beauty, but still one of the best, especially for those who thrive in the outdoors. It’s one of the most beautiful places in America nature.

2. Castle Rock in Gove County Aeons agoAs the stories say, an ancient sea covered nearly all of the Midwest, inside this lush grove, found in Kansas. It’s a maddening array of chalk deposits span nearly 11 miles and is said to be breathtakingly beautiful.

There are limestone pillars which tower over the nearby badlands of the Smoky Hills region, but the big sensation here, is Castle Rock, a landmark on the Butterfield Overland Despatch route, known by many as the Overland Trail.

Castle Rock’s name hails from its resemblance to a castle rising above the prairie. This place of natural divinity is one of the 8 wonders of Kansas.

3. Yosemite Valley

From the lush grooves which dwell inside the mountainous world of Northern California comes this monumentally gorgeous National Park. Yosemite Valley is a frosty valley in Yosemite National Park in the western Sierra Nevada mountains of Central California.

The National Park is well-known for its waterfalls. And Yosemite Falls is the highest waterfall in all of North America. Here you can find rooted valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a wide-in-range wilderness area, and much more.

Enter through the Tunnel View, take either of the hiking trail loops which stay within the valley and lead to the trailheads, which force visitors to travel upwards, for some truly scenic wonders.

The valley is around 8 miles long and nearly a full mile deep, some of the best summits are rumored to be the Half Dome, Cathedral Rocks, Three Brothers, and El Capitan.

There are over ten wondrous waterfalls, endless mountain rocks, gorges, and canyons, as well as so many pine trees, it will make your head spin! It’s one of the most beautiful places in California.

4. Horseshoe Bend

This next place of intensive American beauty can be found in the bend of the Colorado River from the Arizona side, pretty darn close to that illustrious world of rock called the Grand Canyon.

This formation of land is, as you may have guessed, in the shape of a horseshoe, the bend is located approximately 5 miles downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell.

The hike for access is roughly one and a half miles, and from what the stories say, is well worth the effort. The magnificent overlook is from 4,200 feet above sea level and allows for a view of nearly the entire span of the massive national state park.

The steep cliffs which rise above Horseshoe bend come in a dazzling array of colors, thanks to all those lovely minerals.

5. Watkins Glen State Park

This devastatingly beautiful glimpse into the splendor of Mother Nature can be found in Schuyler County New York, inside the Finger Lakes region. The centerpiece of this luxurious park of all things nature, is a 400-foot gorge, cut through the mountainous rocks by Glen Creek, which formed from melting glaciers. Rapids and waterfalls grow wild here.

The rocks are mostly soft shales, with several layers of color-changing sandstone and limestone. There are three gorgeous trails to enter the cavern of the gorge, Indian Trails takes you through the forest. Gorge Trail follows closest to the stream and runs over the park’s 19 waterfalls by way of stone bridges and over 800 stone steps. Finally, there is the Finger Lakes trail, an 800-mile system of outdoor bliss.

5. Zion

This National Park can be found in Utah, it spans nearly 230 square miles and is filled with astounding formations of canyons, as well as lush forests and stunning wildlife.

There are approximately 290 species of birds, 75 mammals, including 20 distinct species of bats, and 32 unique breeds of reptiles, as well as oodles and oodles of plants.

The park is so immense, it’s best to navigate through the four life zones, there’s the desert portion, the riparian world, the woodland spaces, and the coniferous forest.

7. Fly Geyser, Washoe County, Nevada

Fly Geyser is a wonderful geothermal geyser located in the Northwest of the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. Surprisingly, Fly Geyser is not a natural geyser. This amazing geyser was accidentally created when a geothermal company drilled a test well at this site.

Back in 1964, a geothermal company drilled a well to detect geothermal power at a private fly ranch located in the Northwest of the Black Rock Desert. They found that underground water on the site is not hot enough for the geothermal plant. So, they left the project and left the well uncapped and unfinished. The site is still a private property, owned by Todd Jaksick.

Progressively, the hot underwater started flowing from the weak places of the well. Limestone is formed on the site as a result of continuous release of the mineral-rich water. Limestone mount is still growing due to the continuous deposition of minerals. The presence of thermophilic algae also gives the giant fly geyser, a spectacular red-blue color. It surely is one of the most unusual places to visit in the US.

8. Haiku Stairs, Oahu, Hawaii

Haiku Stairs features vertical, forbidden hiking trail that is located alongside Ko’olau mountain range in Oahu Island of Hawaii. This dreamlike, surreal hiking is also known as ‘Stairway to Heaven‘. Haiku stairs actually deserve this wonderful name because of its panoramic view it offers. Since 1987, it is closed to the public.

Haiku stairs were originally designed to reach radio stations at the top of the mountain by American militants during World War II. In the 1950s, the original wooden stages were replaced by metal footsteps. In the past, hikers used to climb 3,955 steps of Haiku stairs to reach the high mountain range at 2120 ft. altitude.

You can witness ‘No Trespassing’ signs at the starting point of the trail. Nevertheless, many hikers continue to reach this trek to have breathtaking views it offers. Sadly, a powerful storm brushed off Oahu Island in February 2015 causing considerable damage to the Haiku Stairs. Reconstruction can be tough and now it has become completely useless. It’s one of the most beautiful places in America nature.

9. The Wave, Border of Utah and Arizona

The wave is an absolute surreal sandstone formation located on the Utah/Arizona border. The wave is said so due to its colorful wavelike formation on sandstone in the region of Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness.

This magnificent geological formation is composed of millions of years of wind and rain erosion. Today, it is one of the most photographed places in the United States.

The Wave is ultimately a magical combination of interesting shapes and breathtaking colors. On this site, wave-like structures display a different spectrum of colors in different shades of red, pink, orange, yellow and green. Depending on the time of day, it appears in different shades. This color change depends only on the intensity of Sunlight.
