War is a horrible nightmare for all of us. War is hell as it destroys everything. Not only it contributes to thousands of loss of lives but also the destruction of various historical places. The devastating places that have stood the test times but sadly they are unable to stand the test of gunfire and bombs.

Today, we are going to show you some historical sites before and after the war that destroyed badly due to the war.

1. Berlin – Germany

Following World War II, the fallen German capital showed tremendous devastation and destruction due to Allied bombardments and fires that raged for days at a time. High explosives tore through many roadways and, in some cases, even exposed the underground railway.

2. The Al-Askari Mosque of Samarra – Iraq

Once hailed as the biggest mosque in the world, it was destroyed by a bomb in 2005.

3. Crac des Chevaliers – Syria

 

This Crusader Castle was damaged by the Syrian Arab Army in 2012.

4. Donetsk Airport – UkraineThe Donetsk Sergey Prokofiev International Airport was taken out of service by Pro-Russian rebels.

5. Kabul, AfghanistanKabul is no stranger to conflict. It has seen numerous conflicts and changing of hands, from the invasion of British forces in 1938 and Soviet intervention in 1979 to the Taliban rule in 1996 and U.S.-led invasion in 2001.

6. Palmyra – Syria

The ancient city, that holds historical significance, was reduced to rubble. Back in the day, it was known as the ‘Venice of the Sands.’

7. Rotterdam – Netherlands

Rotterdam was bombed by the German Army during the invasion of Rotterdam.

8. Bamyan Buddha – Afghanistan

The Bamyan Buddha was a major example of the Gandhara School of Art which prospered in the ancient era. Even that was not even bestowed!

9. Nimrud – Syria

The historic city was devastated and wiped out by the ISIS.

10. Warsaw – Poland

Warsaw was totally destroyed by the Nazis with the aim of ‘Germanizing’ Eastern Europe.

11. Beirut – Lebanon

The 15-year civil battle resulted in ruining Beirut’s architectural.
