1. Salt Piles at Salar de Uyuni

Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat, is one of the most distinct natural landmarks in the world. The immense plains of salt are viewable from space and are a huge attraction for tourists and photographers.

After rainfall, the plains turn into an enormous reflective mirror that creates a surreal landscape. The piles of salt ready for harvest only add to the uncanny imagery.

2. Giant’s Causeway

The Giant’s Causeway is a huge oceanside area in Northern Ireland comprised of giant interlocking columns of basalt rock. Most of the columns are hexagonal in shape and perfectly fit together creating a surreal almost game-like environment.

Scientifically speaking, the columns were created by an ancient volcanic explosion, but it gains its name from the popular legend that the cliffs were built as a causeway by a giant in ancient times.

3. Balance Rock

In the Garden of Gods in Colorado Springs, there are a plethora of beautiful red rock formations, but possibly the most iconic of these rocks is Balance Rock – a huge boulder that seems like it could fall over at any moment.

It is destined to fall over eventually when erosion or other damage dislodge it from its gripping points. Go and see Balance Rock before it falls over and becomes just a normal rock.

4. Balancing Rock, Canada

There is another precarious rock, but this seems to be even more impossible. The Balancing Rock in Nova Scotia is believed to be standing for thousands of years. It’s about 30 feet tall and seems to be just standing straight up out of a pure will.

5. Fly GeyserFound in Nevada, USA, this erupting rock is Fly Geyser, an accidental man-made geothermal geyser in Washoe County. The fountain was created in 1964 when people were exploring sources of geothermal energy and accidentally drilled into a well.

The well was never capped properly and has now become a geyser that shoots water into the air, creating the ever-growing rock formation around it. It looks like a weird alien structure because of thermophilic algae that thrive in the high temperatures Fly Geyser generates.

6. Split Apple Rock

Tokangawhā, aka Split Apple Rock, is a geological rock formation off the coast of South Island of New Zealand. It is a structure made of granite and looks almost like it was deliberately cut in half.

This cleft was natural, though, with no help from any humans. What exactly could have cut this boulder in half is a mystery. Although theories include water creeping into the rock, freezing, and expanding to break the rock? It’s a popular spot for tourists to take the exact same photo every year.

7. Ha Long Bay

In the Gulf Of Tonkin lies the Ha Long Bay which includes around 1,600 islands and islets, setting up an awesome landscape of limestone pillars. Most of the islands are left abandoned and untouched by humans due to their craggy nature. Nature lovers surely love this outstanding beauty personified place.

Thousands of limestone karst is being featured by this bay in different shapes and sizes. The bay containing limestone is 500 million years of formation in so many different conditions and surroundings. Under the tropical wet climate impact, the evolution of karst dates back to 20 million years.

Ha Lond Bay is the native place for indigenous floral species and 60 endemic fauna species. Thousands of years ago, there has been observed the presence of prehistorical humans – As per the historical research surveys.

8. Puerto Princesa Underground River

Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is one of the most outstanding protected areas of the Philippines. It is situated approximately 360 miles southwest of Manila. It is mainly established in 1971 as a national park for mainly preserving and protecting the old undamaged development forests, lovely and interesting wildlife, serene white sand beaches, unmatched and unspoiled natural beauty and one of the most influential caves systems across the world.

9. Jeju Island

Located at a distance of 130 km away from the southern coast of Korea, Jeju is a volcanic island. The smallest province and largest island in Korea, the island expanse over an area of 1,846 sq km. The island features Lava Tubes and Jeju Volcanic Island, the World Heritage Site. Hallasan is renowned to be the tallest mountain range in South Korea and an inactive volcano which is at a height of 1,950 m above the sea level.

10. Parícutin

In the Mexican state of Michoacán, Parícutin is a hot coal/ash cone volcano. It has been uniquely witnessed, the creation and extinction of this volcano which has been studied by human beings. It’s of the most bizarre natural wonders of the world. The volcanic field of Michoacán-Guanajuato features a small part named, Parícutin, that covers enough of west-central Mexico. It’s also the part of the Ring Of Fire.

11. Mount Everest

Mount Everest acclaims to be the highest mountain range on Earth, positioned at a height of 8,848 meters (29,029 ft). The peak is perched on the borders of Nepal and Tibet. This world’s highest peak attracts adventure seekers from all around the globe. Also, Mt. Everest is having threats like height disease, wind, and weather.

12. Iguazu Falls

One of the world’s most beautiful natural wonders, Iguaçu Falls is located on the border between Brazil and Argentina. The waterfall includes 275 falls alongside Iguazu river. Most of the falls are having an approximate height of 64 meters (210 feet). The most influential amongst them is Devil’s Throat a U-Shaped, 700 meters (2,300 feet), 82 meters high (269 feet), and 150 meters (492 feet) wide waterfall.

13. Antarctica

On average, Antarctica is the coldest, windiest, and driest continent on the planet, Earth. It features the highest altitude amongst all continents. However, 98% of Antarctica is coated with ice, but technically Antarctica is a desert (largest on earth) with a small amount of precipitation.

Antarctica is much colder than the Arctic as most of the continent is 3 kilometres (2 miles) extra, above the sea level.
